George Washington Chapman. b. abt. 1811 in Maine and d. 22 Jan 1870 in Pulaski County, Illinois

George is my 2x great grandfather. His daughter, Anna Eliza Chapman married James Monroe Cooper on 03 Sep 1838 in Alexander County, Illinois. I am looking for his parents, birth date, and any other information I can find on him.

According to my grandfather (who died in 1968), George was the son of another George Washington Chapman and was born in Maine. George Jr. married Rachel Barshebah Little on 3 Sep 1838 in Alexander County, Illinois. They had at least 8 known children.

The 1870 census shows him in Pulaski County, Ill, with his wife Rachel.

Name George Chapman

Age in 1870 58

Birth Date 1812

Archibald Granville Chapman b. 27 Feb 1859 Alexander, NC. D. 13 Feb 1929 in same place

Pleasant Ambrose Chapman. b. 17 Jan 1855, Georgia. D. 05 Mar 1921 in Staves, Cleveland, Arkansas, USA

Most of my Chapman's are from New England, mainly Maine. The next most common are in Kentucky and then in North Carolina. Only a couple are from Georgia. I thought that there were more in Georgia, but I guess not.

Are you on Ancestry? My ID there is pauliHistoryLover. All of my known Chapman's are in my DNA-Through a Glass Dimly, tree.

Mary C Chapman

Looking at my family tree this morning. I noticed that I have an unclaimed Chapman! Mary C Chapman b.1809 at Camp Creek, Lincoln, NC and d. 1874. She married Absolom Hoyle (1801-1867) in about 1824. All that info came from The Chapman Trail. Now their son, Eli Hoyle (1830-1900) m. Louisa Eliza Chapman, b. abt 1883, in 1853 in Cleveland County NC. Louisa is daughter of William J Chapman and Rachel. Which Chapman family does Mary C Chapman belong too? Thanks for any help you can share.
