Info search, Giles Mathis Chapman
I obviously have very little skill in genealogy. I am trying to confirm the parents of Giles Mathis Chapman, born abt 1796 in Newberry county, SC. Died abt 11Dec1865 in Crawford, GA. I am also trying to determine if Gil’s Mathis’ son was Louis or Lewis Otis Chapman, born abt 1829 in GA. Thanks for any help you can provide. Willgetsmail@gmail.com

I see your dilemma. Searching the CFA on South Carolina and Georgia Chapman lines might be of help. In researching, starting with latest documented records, looking for clues in them and going backwards has worked for me and others. Wish I could be of more help.
